NE1 was set up April 2009 as the Business Improvement District (BID) delivery company for Newcastle city centre. An independent and not-for-profit company, NE1 represents the interests of over 1,400 businesses in Newcastle city centre. Over the past decade, the company has grown considerably both in terms of its delivery and impact. It is well respected within the city and recognised nationally and internationally as one of the finest BID companies in operation today.
NE1 are looking for a Business Support Manager to join their Operations team. The focus of the role is to ensure that city centre businesses have the support and information they need to thrive in Newcastle.
The opportunity
The Business Support Manager’s role will include:
- Being the ‘first responder’ to deal with any issues that may affect local businesses and the BID area
- Assisting and advising on changes that will further improve NE1’s existing strong relationships with city centre businesses
- Being proactive in troubleshooting businesses' problems across the city centre
- Developing and monitoring KPIs relevant to the BID
- Supporting NE1’s projects and events programme
- Engaging with and informing businesses about NE1’s services, from marketing to event management, gaining a sound understanding of their needs and how NE1 can best provide support
The person
NE1 seeks a proactive individual who will be a passionate advocate for Newcastle city centre and is keen to have a positive impact on its businesses and how people interact with the city. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written English, with the ability to establish and develop positive, constructive and professional relationships across sectors, and with people at all levels
- Strong multi-tasking skills combined with the ability to effectively set priorities
- Be a self-starter, able to work under pressure and solve problems
- Be a committed team player
- Be visionary and committed to the pursuit of high standards
- Having previous experience in a service delivery environment would be advantageous
Salary
- In the region of £30,000, depending on experience
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Normal working hours are 9am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday. NE1 operates a hybrid office working environment and provides and expects flexibility when required
- 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays
